The Company

Nordfilm GmbH

Nordfilm GmbH is a German limited-liability company with head offices in Kiel and Lüneburg. The firm produces high-quality films, predominantly in the fictional genre for television. Nordfilm operates as a strong partner independently on the market and maintains a profile of its own, not least of all due to its regional ties: The North German orientation and the accent placed on regional stories hallmark the company and function as a trademark. Work together with local talent to the benefit of fictional storytelling in the entire film and TV sector, and especially producing such stories in the region itself, form the focus of activity. The companys most successful productions include episodes from the Tatort crime series set in Lower Saxony starring Maria Furtwängler,

as well as the
Tatort episodes in Kiel featuring Axel Milberg and Almila Bagriacik in the leading roles. In both cases the films were produced for NDR, a North German broadcasting network. Among the most recent productions are the German-Danish feature-length film co-production entitled In Krieg und Liebe (cinema release in November 2018), the post-war drama Ich werde nicht schweigen for the ZDF national broadcasting network starring Nadja Uhl, and the comedy Ausgerechnet Sylt”, equally produced for ZDF starring Katja Studt and Fabian Busch, which achieved sensational viewer ratings in May 2018 (5.23 million viewers, equivalent to a 17.5% share of the market) and consequently numbers among the most successful ZDF made-for-TV films in recent years.
